Cuisine from all over the world, fabulous shopping experiences… you’ll find it all in Hayward. This city is home to the Southland Mall, Union Landing and the Fairway Park Shopping Center, which combined, have all the retail stores you’d expect to find in a much larger city. Hayward has a movie theater, a bowling alley and plenty of nightlife, as well.
Two golf courses—Mission Hills of Hayward and Skywest Golf Course—are located right in town, as is the Stonebrae Country Club.
Things to Do in Hayward
The downtown area of Hayward is its cultural hub, where you’ll find Hayward City Hall, the City Center Building and Alex Giualini Plaza. The Hayward Area Historical Society Museum and the historic Buffalo Bill’s Brewery are also located here.
Two Hayward sites are listed on the National Register of Historic Places: The Green Shutter Hotel and Eden Congregational Church. Nearby Meek Mansion is also listed on the California Register of Historical Resources, and Agapius Honcharenko’s Ukraina Ranch is also located here.
The East Bay Regional Park District and the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District operate several parks in the area, including:

Commute Times From Hayward
The Bay Area Rapid Transit system has two stations in Hayward: Hayward Station downtown and the South Hayward Station near Union City. The AC Transit bus system also operates in Hayward, as does Amtrak (there’s daily service at the Hayward Station for the Capitol Corridor train to San Jose and Auburn).
